Organized religion has long believed that all psychic things are evil. Most of them believe this because:
A: a little occult stuff may lead to a lot of occult stuff, which leads you away from God.
B: some occult things may be due to satan, or under demonic influence.
But no one really talks about the every day psychic abilities you hear about, where someone dreams their loved one dies, and they do, or visits from beyond from a loved on, or the phone call from someone who died...Yet, everyone has a story like this, either from their own lives, or someone they know.
Is there some other answer for these abilities? Is it just in our nature's to have them, and do some just hone them more or maybe needed them more in their rough childhoods , so they developed more?
The Bible is full of psychic abilities, prophecy, visions, and clairvoyance. So how can they be evil? if it is inside us all to some degree, and you believe in God, who makes us all, then they are from God. Not to replace God in any way; but a little extra help from God maybe. This is what I believe personally.
And if they are from God, they are a gift, like other spiritual gifts.
The Catholic Church believes that demons, being fallen angels, have the same powers as angels. Which is to say, more power than humans, but not as much as God. Only God knows the future, demons don't. So whenever someone dreams a dream that comes true, or has a clairvoyant revelation that comes to pass, they are in essence knowing something that according to the Church, demons can not know. Another good indication that any real psychic abilities must be from God. It's the only conclusion I can come to at this point at least!
